iPad announcements!

Ok, so Apple was pretty vague about the iPad and when it was being released in the UK and Europe, but now they've gone official, and Orange have also announced their plans for the data. Now, the iPad 16GB WiFi is $499 and it is £429 and €479 across Europe. I feel that isn't too bad considering the current economy and a tendency for the dollar symbol to be switched to a pound sign for many products. Now, I'm going to rattle through the rest of the prices then get on to the UK data plans. First off, for central Europe:

  • 16GB WiFi-only €479
  • 32GB WiFi-only €579
  • 64GB WiFi-only €679
  • 16GB WiFi+3G €579
  • 32GB WiFi+3G €679
  • 64GB WiFi+3G €779

Now, for UK:

  • 16GB WiFi-only £429
  • 32GB WiFi-only £499
  • 64GB WiFi-only £599
  • 16GB WiFi+3G £529
  • 32GB WiFi+3G £599
  • 64GB WiFi+3G £699

Now for the data plans. Orange has announced pretty generous plans and the simplest is a "pay as you browse" which is 5p per MB, which orange says won't cost more than £40 a month. There is also a daily plan, which is £2 for 200MB a day. A weekly tariff is available for £7.50 and 1GB for that time. £15 a month gives you 3GB data and 750MB at BT Openzone WiFi hotspots. £25 a month gives you 10GB and the same WiFi amounts. I think they're pretty reasonable, what about you?
