(Sort of) Live from the Apple Event

This post is going to be updated as much as possible from the commentary of the engadget live updating of the Apple Event.

(All times are in GMT -8)

10:00 The event has just begun.

10:10 it looks like a tablet that can do ebooks is on the way!

10:15 THE TABLET IS HERE!!! It is called the iPad.

10:20 It looks like there is no flash on the device. So it's basically a big iPhone Safari browser.

10:30 It can do HD Video, as well as iTunes, iPhoto and others. This looks like a true computer. Also has an Apple chip and memory. Nice.

10:40 It can do all the apps the iPhone has on its 9.7" screen.

10:50 It has an iBooks store for ebooks. Perfect.

11:10 New iWork is out on iPad. The books are in an ePub format, no word on DRM though which hopefully means not.

11:15 It has 3G and will come unlocked in America with deals with AT&T which I'll come onto later. It will have international carriers by June, but hopefully will be purchasable from the UK and Europe anyway. We'll see.

11:20 Right, pricing: it will start at $499 for the 16GB. 32GB is at $600 and 64GB at $700.

11:22 Right, it seems that there are going to be some pretty cool accessories. Making this a cheap iMac. Let's wait and see.

11:25 There is the computer stand above, which makes it like an Apple EeeTop.

11:30 That seems to be the end of it; Steve is rounding it up.

11:35 That's it. Summary posts to come!
