Summary of iPad Part 1: Outsides and Price

So, Steve has just announced his iPad, and we are now going to do a number of summaries about it. This is the first, compromising of the outsides (hardware) and pricing.


The iPad comes in 3 memory sizes: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The 16GB costs $500, 32GB $600, 64GB $700. However, for $130 more on each of these prices, you can have a 3G model with a sim-card slot.

The screen is a capacitive 9.7" IPS display but no word on resolution. It is 0.5 inches thick and weighs 1.5 pounds.

The pricing seems to be less than the rumours suggested, but the screen is bang on. The offline version should be out in 60 days and the 3G version in 90.

The screen is also Arsenic, Mercury, BFR and PVC free and "Highly recyclable". Does this mean only at altitude?
