HTC HD2 no longer on Vodafone

It has been widely accepted that the HTC HD2 is the best Windows Mobile phone out there at the present moment, with its enormous 4.3" PSP sized capacitive screen and 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Vodafone started selling it a few weeks ago, and it seemed to have been going well for them. But now we hear that they are not going to restock the phone once all current stocks run out. They said, "We are not re-stocking the HTC HD2 for general consumer sales once current stock runs out. We have had a massive amount of interest in it, and our initial stock sold out quickly. Subsequent deliveries have been used to fulfil backorders, but we are not looking to re-stock the device."

Nobody has openly accepted the blame for this phone being dropped but rumours seem to be spreading that Vodafone are making way for the iPhone to be sold on their network sometime from the start of next year. I personally think this is a stupid idea of them if it is due to the iPhone being sold on their network because they are losing out on a market who want that phone on a contract. Some people seem to think that Apple did have a say in this, but I'm not sure. The iPhone is being sold on o2 and they also have the Palm Pre on there, one of the biggest iPhone competitors. Whatever happens, it seems that there is no coming back for Vodafone on this one, and the HTC HD2 is only available SIM-Free from Expansys or Amazon.
