Just now... Google bought Picnik. I mean the huge photo-sharing and photo-editing website used by millions every day and very popular with teenagers for quick edits just to make their social networking profile images that little bit nicer. Picnik and Google think this will benefit the website. I can't help but agree but I'm a little bothered that Google is buying other photo-editing websites instead of working on Picasa, the desktop photo management and editing application they bought a while ago.
What will now happen to Picasa Web, the online photo sharing tool Google also bought during the purchasing of Picasa itself? Will Picasa and Picnik merge into a single website, using the photo-editing skills of Picnik combined with the photo-sharing skills of Picasa to bring a truly unique refresh to the image-based social networking realm? I can't really post much information at present but I'd love to hear what you think.
