Because I’m a geek and I love the Internet and I join every service in existence I decided it was high time I became a part of the DailyBooth community. DailyBooth is just starting up and is at the same kind of level as Formspring. That is to say, it’s quite popular but not as universally known as the likes of Facebook and Twitter themselves. DailyBooth’s main purpose is to take a snapshot from your webcam, upload it to the web for all to see, and share the photo across your social networks.
Creating an account takes about a minute, and that’s including checking your emails and following the confirmation link. Once you’re ready to upload your first picture just head to the snapshot utility and choose between taking a picture immediately and setting a three-second delay. Edit the picture caption and you’re all set. The picture will be uploaded automatically, the caption applied, and the table laid for people to leave comments about your ugly mug.
I’d best mention a few other things lest the social media nerds have me beheaded.
Sharing a photo already saved on your hard disk is just as easy as uploading one directly from your webcam. Once you’ve uploaded a photo it may only be a few seconds before someone leaves the first comment because it’s quite a thriving community. New comments from other users appear in real-time with no need to refresh the page. It’s also worth mentioning that the concept of following and being followed has been copied from Twitter and made use of through DailyBooth.
Warning
If you're a regular user of Twitter you will be used to Follow Friday which is a Twitter-wide event. Users include the #FF or #FollowFriday hashtag followed by a list of the users who they think are worth following. The DailyBooth counterpart is Naked Friday. Yes, it involves taking a picture of yourself...
You were warned.
