iPlayer to hit Freesat soon

Freesat is going to have iPlayer this month. Rahul Chakkara, controller of TV platforms at BBC Future Media and Technology, said on the bbc internet blog that "We have been developing BBC iPlayer using this standard. I expect to start a Beta deployment by the end of November using capable Freesat devices." This means with that as well as being on the web, Virgin Media, PS3 and Wii, it will now be on a much cheaper version of TV. This can only be a good thing for the BBC, who have been under a bit of criticism lately. I think this is great, as iPlayer has revolutionised online tv, so hopefully other channels like ITV will get on board and put their on demand service no Freesat as well.
