How to: Make your HD2 a wireless router

There are a number of reasons why you might want to have your HD2 as a mobile wireless router: say you live without wireless internet in your house, or you just want to be prepared in case it breaks, or even you want to have a mobile wifi hotspot for your laptop so you don't need a MiFi service. The HD2 is a great option to be a wireless router because it is on Orange's 3G service (UK) which is very well covered throughout the UK. Now, if you want to have a mobile wireless router, you might want to read on as this could help solve your mobile internet needs.
  1. Set up the phone with its SIM card and internet contract, otherwise you'll be charged a bomb for internet!
  2. Tap "Start" and go to "Wi-Fi Router" - there'll be a little introduction page if this is your first time using it. Once you've watched this, hit "next"
  3. Set up the network by entering a network name and a 10 digit WEP key.
And that's it! You're done! You can now just set up your wifi using your laptop (I'll pressume you know how to do that) and get using your portable internet hotspot!
