Yesterday I was having a bit of a clear out on my computer, normal sort of stuff. I went into the "App Data" folder as I run vista and had a little poke about. I deleted app data from programmes I had uninstalled and other stuff. Then I saw Spotify had 1GB of data, strange considering I don't have a premium account. So I had a look and saw that there was just under 1GB of cached music in there. Presumably this is for when you get premium, but I have no intention of doing that, so what was it doing there? I took the decision to delete all the cached music from it and started up Spotify. It all worked fine, not a problem. I went back after a few plays and found that it had already used up another 132MB of caching my music.
I am not sure whether it is just me, but this might be because Spotify is still in Beta amazingly. So, if I were you I would go into App data and check it out because you could be wasting a hell of a lot of disk space.

Spotify will cache music in the same way a web browser caches web pages. The folder you found is where it stores the cached music. Everyone who uses Spotify will have this folder. Also, you can set the size of the cache in Spotify's preferences - mine is set to automatic so it shouldn't use any more than 10% of disk space.
Yes, but the fact is why would it cache the music if I am not a premium user?
It caches the music even if you're not a premium user; the Spotify cache is its way of buffering, it needs somewhere on your computer to store it.
