Is the iphone range plagued with problems?

Apple iphones are undoubtedly the cream of the crop when it come to mobile phones but heck do they come with a price tag. I being a loyal iphone user for the past year have discovered the glossy little beauty isnt quite what i once expected. After using my phone for a mere 2 months, i dropped it from around waist height and inevitably it cracked, the screen still works but is a bit of a pain. It seems the iphone has been designed purely on functionality and looks but certainly not durability. Later i encountered battery life problems, bearing in mind that i have the original iphone and processing power doesnt quite eat the battery like the more recent 3GS. I experienced a battery life ranging from 2-4 hours maximum with it on sleep. It seems the concept and design of the iphone leaves the screen open to keys, drops and knocks; i really dont want to hurt tht poor capacitive screen. Rumours have been flying lately over the Iphone 4G (see earlier post) and ive been thinking what i want to see in the next revision of the successful apple product. I want reliability! I want a qwerty keypad! Is too much to ask, for a product that actually functions for the legnth of your contract? I hasten to add that i shall be shelling out the money for the next iphone but please apple, do something about it. Had a similiar problem, drop a comment.
