Around a month ago we announced that the Dell Adamo XPS, and now it's for sale exclusively to John Lewis. At £1750 it isn't cheap, but it is the thinnest laptop in the world to date at 9.9mm. The specs are all very nice but what annoys me the most is the exclusive bit on it. Mobile phones are constantly heard to be "Exclusive to ..." and that is annoying for anyone. But with a laptop? I have never heard of this done before, and it is a stupid idea for a number of reasons.
One of these is the fact that Dell are reducing their market to John Lewis customers, who aren't everybody. The second fact is that it leaves no opportunity to sites who can offer it cheaper so the consumer is losing out as well, which is never good.
I cannot understand Dell's reasoning for having an exclusive seller in John Lewis, but that's the way it is. So let's get on with it. If you want to buy it online, hit the links below.
