The iPad goes on sale with a few changes

On the 12th of March at 8:30am the iPad went up for pre-order in the US with delivery for April 3rd. Already, pre-orders are guessed to be over 150000 and guessed to reach 1000000 just 2 weeks after its release. Now, the iPad for sale isn't the exact same as the one released back in late January of 2010. The new button arrangement on the side means that the top is a sleep/power button like the iPhone, the one top on the right is to lock the screen rotation, and then there is the rocker-volume switch below that.

As well as the new button configuration, Apple will also replace your battery for $99 if it dies. This is pretty decent as my friend went to an Apple shop to have his iPod Touch's screen fixed and they quoted him £150 for it. So, the iPad is out in a couple of weeks in the US and later everywhere else. As soon as they are in shops in the UK, I shall go out and try one out but I doubt that Apple will let me photograph their product in the shop, even if I'm promoting it of sorts.

The $99 battery replacement program doesn't just replace the battery; They send you a completely new iPad should it no longer hold charge.

So it does, thanks for pointing that out.
