Chris Pirillo has, for some reason, develop a website with no apparent purpose, or usefulness which, in all seriousness, consists of a single Facebook ‘Like’ button. If you’re logged into Facebook it’ll also list the names of everyone from your friends list who has also clicked this button.
Does this mean that in the coming months ‘Like’ really will be as much of a revolutionary as it appears to be? Will thousands of websites begin adding their own in the hope that people will ‘Like’ their articles, blog posts, videos etc, automatically spreading the word over the world’s largest social networking website? Will this be a new way of letting more people know about your material, thus gaining traffic, without lifting a finger?
Unfortunately the answer seems to be ‘yes’. Whether or not you think this is a bad thing is down to your own opinions. I’m not looking forward to it a great deal because the homepage is already cluttered enough. Seeing people ‘Like’ things on other websites as well as Facbook itself will just cause an additional influx in waves of disorganization on a once clean and tidy website.
See Chris’ ‘Will you like this?’ website here, or ‘Like’ the fanpage on Facebook here.
UPDATE
If you can’t beat them, join them…
Thanks!
