After ‘Police Siren!’ I realized that the top applications weren’t all they’re cracked up to be and instead scrolled my way further down the list of free downloads. Soon I found a somewhat interesting application entiteled ‘iPint’. This is a game-cum-party-trick which is split into main sections. After the player/user has successfully manoeuvred a pint of beer from one end of a bar to the other, simply by tilting the device, they’ll watch as the iPod Touch/iPhone turns into a glass…
First, the user sees this:
Three levels are available, each offering up an increasing level of difficulty and sophistication, as well as a trio of buttons. The ‘iPint’ button simply skips the first half of the application, a game known as Barslide, taking the player straight to iPint itself.
But where’s the fun in that when you could start at the beginning of the bar…
And carefully tilt your iPhone or iPod Touch until the pint of beer reaches the end of each stage…
Right into the hands of your waiting friend.
Along the way you’ll encounter a range of static obstacles which could result in you falling from the sides of the virtual bar and smashing all over the floor. And you don’t want that happening because then you’ll have to be a sore loser and press the ‘iPint’ button to get your own beer:
One tap of the screen later and your iPhone/iPod Touch will slowly fill to the brim with Carling…
Now for the party trick.
In the same way that you tilted your device to guide the pint to your mate at the other end of the bar you’re now allowed to enjoy your own wonderful alcohol by tipping it out. Go on, put the corner of the iPod Touch or iPhone to your mouth, and slowly tip it towards you…
Watch as the people around you stare in amazement (or disbelief at your obvious stupidity):
Pause for good effect, wipe your lips on your sleeve and let out a relieved sigh.
Then finish the pint off:
Now that your glass is empty you can tap anywhere to bring up a menu:
‘Start Game again’ will take you back to Barslde, ‘Pour another pint’ will refill your virtual glass.
But tap ‘Send your mate a pint’, and the ‘Mail’ application will launch into your default mail account:
From here it’s easy to share the app with others, spreading the good news about free beer!
Tap ‘Cancel’ if you change your mind about sharing the application.
Then perhaps check out the ‘Instructions’ section if you’re still confused as to what iPint does:
iPint may not be useful for productivity, or real-world usage, but if you’re bored and looking for something to pass by the five-minute wait for a taxi, or simply a trick to play on fellow staff while the boss visits the toilets, you can’t go wrong with iPint.
