Chris Pirillo – Actual iPad!

It was a long hard wait but we finally got there, and Chris finally unboxed the iPad on a live stream across the web. He had two webcams running at once. One was in the usual place aimed at his desk while a second watched his front porch. The latter was positioned in such a way as to show viewers the delivery van arriving. After about an hour of watching I finally spied the van pulling into his driveway and Chris appeared at the door in a matter of seconds.

At this point I switched over to the former feed and watched the countdown begin.

As it turned out viewers still had 20 minutes left to wait before Chris started.

He had a quick shower while I entertained the bored IRC users with random questions about their personal preference between Coca Cola or Pepsi. Soon, Chris arrived with just minutes left to set up the recording process. Once that was out of the way he grabbed a pair of scissors and carefully unsealed the packaging. Moments later he held an iPad in his hand and the 1,000+ viewers flooded the IRC with excited comments.

Chris spent the next half an hour demonstrating some of the iPads features as well as connecting it to his MacBook via USB. He even gave it a name. As I watched I was also talking to Joy on webcam and you just have to see how well-timed this screenshot was…

Joy and Chris

By the time I post this the web will be filled with reviews and hands-on demonstrations of how the iPad works and what people think of it. Opinions will reach high and also stoop down low so get out there, find some clips and make your own mind up as to whether or you want one.

And if you already have one fling a comment my way and share your first impressions!

Peace,

Steve :)

About that last bit, you see how you said see some videos to decide whether you want an iPad. Well I'd recommend going to physically try one out. Same with phones. You can't tell what it's like until you've tried it. When it's available in the UK, I shall also go and have a try and relay my thoughts but I still urge you to try it for yourself.
