Just the other day, I tweeted about my PSN not working. And after a twitter search I found that was popular, one of my followers even retweeted what I was saying. It is annoying when the servers go down, because it not only affects the psp I was on, but also those playing Modern Warefare 2. They were unable to go online at some points last week and that must have been irritating for them, to say the least. But recently there have been rumours that PSN will now be a paid-for service, causing outrage as one of the reasons PS3 works out cheaper than Xbox is because of included online play if you so desire. Now Sony has told TechRadar that it will not be introducing a paid-for model. A person told them, We're continually looking at offering new forms of premium content & services, that will further enhance consumers experiences & expectations of the PSN,". And Kaz Hirai, top dog at Sony, has also said,"SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network...Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services."
So, would you pay for PSN? Millions do for Xbox, but in my view it is just a bit late for SONY to announce this because people would be outraged and SONY would lose all its market share.
