The N97 Mini: why?

When the Nokia N97 Mini was announced, everyone seemed to think that this newer, smaller, less feature filled phone would cost a lot less. But in fact, it costs the same as the 32GB N97, £35 a month for 2 years on vodafone. The screen size on the Mini is 3.2" as opposed to the full fat version's 3.5", which isn't that much of a difference as you can see above. It is 12g lighter, and also smaller in every department size wise. The battery life is worse on the Mini though, 320 hours standby as opposed to 400 on the normal version. The internal memory is also down from 32GB to 8GB, which is a huge drop. The D-pad is also absent on the Mini, probably the only reason for the decrease in size. So, in my view, I think the N97 Mini is pointless compared to the normal N97. It is no cheaper and has fewer features for a tiny bit smaller, which you will hardly notice. In my opinion, buy the full on N97 and you won't be dissapointed (as much).
